Get in Touch

DetroitCannabis.org is an educational resource, not a cannabis business. We don’t sell products, provide legal advice, or operate dispensaries. We welcome your feedback to help keep this site accurate and useful for residents, border-crossers, federal-contractor employees, and Detroit Legacy / social-equity operators.

Report Inaccurate Information

Detroit and Michigan cannabis policy is changing fast: the new 24% wholesale tax took effect January 1, 2026; the MCIA lawsuit is pending; the Gordie Howe International Bridge has not yet opened; federal Schedule III rescheduling is in progress. If you notice information on this site that is outdated or incorrect, please reach out and let us know. Include the page URL and the specific information that needs correction so we can update it promptly.

Suggest Improvements

Is there a neighborhood, dispensary cluster, equity issue, or cultural figure we haven’t covered well enough? An OCA development we should reflect? A border-crossing dynamic we should add? We’d love to hear your suggestions for making DetroitCannabis.org more useful.

About Our Team

DetroitCannabis.org is maintained by a small team of researchers and writers committed to providing free, accurate cannabis information. We are not affiliated with any dispensary, producer, industry group, advocacy organization, or law firm. Our only goal is to make Detroit cannabis law and resources accessible.

For Legal Advice

This site does not provide legal advice. For arrest situations, employment matters, university student-conduct proceedings, business decisions, or border-crossing immigration questions, consult a Michigan-licensed attorney. The State Bar of Michigan maintains a Lawyer Referral Service. The ACLU of Michigan (2966 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, MI 48201) litigated Casias v. Wal-Mart and remains a leading civil-liberties resource. Michigan Legal Help provides self-help resources. For border-crossing immigration questions, consult both a Michigan immigration attorney and a Canadian immigration attorney.

For Medical Questions

This site does not provide medical advice. For cannabis-therapeutic questions, consult a Michigan-licensed physician familiar with cannabinoid pharmacology. The Michigan Cannabis Industry Association and Michigan NORML maintain referral lists of recommending physicians.

For Federal-Workplace Questions

If you work for GM, Ford, Stellantis, or a Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier with federal-contractor flow-down clauses, the Department of Defense, TACOM, Selfridge ANGB, the FBI, federal contractors at Detroit-area sites, or any other federally-tested position, the Michigan state legalization does not protect you. Consult an employment attorney before any cannabis-related decision.

For Veterans Questions

If you are a veteran receiving care at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center or another VA facility, VHA Directive 1315 governs cannabis-related conversations with VA providers. Veterans cannot lose VA benefits solely for state-legal cannabis use, but VA providers cannot recommend or document medical cannabis. See Veterans & VHA Directive 1315.

For Border-Crossing Questions

If you are crossing the Detroit-Windsor border (Ambassador Bridge, Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, planned Gordie Howe International Bridge), do not carry cannabis or cannabis-derived products in either direction. Non-U.S. citizens face lifetime inadmissibility risk under INA § 212(a)(2)(A)(i)(II); consult both a Michigan immigration attorney and a Canadian immigration attorney before crossing if you have any cannabis-industry employment, ownership, or investment history. See Lifetime Inadmissibility.
